The Green Home Programme (GHP) was launched in October 2021 as part
of the Funding for Growth Scheme, in line with the Green Monetary Policy Toolkit
Strategy and as one of its first steps. The programme promoted the creation of a green housing loan
market and the mainstreaming of environmental sustainability considerations in
the domestic housing market by providing low-interest central bank funds with a budget of HUF 300 million. Until its termination in September 2022 GHP made it possible for around 8,600 households to build or buy an
energy-efficient home.
